Tristan
Jones is the author of such well known books as "The
Incredible Voyage, Ice!," "Adrift" and "Outward
Leg." He has sailed on the highest and lowest bodies of
water of the world, up the Amazon, through the Iron Curtain and has
survived tremendous personal hardships, while continuing writing and
sailing.
This rare interview
succeeds in capturing the fascinating personality and soul of the
man. He talks of a dangerous encounter with a whale, smuggling,
trimarans, sailing alone, other famous sailors and his planned
attempt to sail up the Yangtze.
Taped on location at the
Lion’s Head Pub in Greenwich Village. Still photography by Thomas
Ettenhuber: film footage provided by Anton Elbers.
